I note that almost all the examples qouted were of Corporate bodies attempting to silence dissenting voices.

Personally speaking... I don't like the "anonymity" the web offers. I have more faith in the expressed opinions of someone who is willing to leave a name and address where they can be reached. Though I can imagine circumstances where it would not be wise for someone to do that.
