Brussels, a forbidden city?????????????????????????????? Ha ha ha ha ha!
Tooooo funny!
What that article shows is that WE Europeans favor communication, talks, persuasion, discussion, while apparently for the US, according to the article, only weapons can talk.
Well, as far as I know, the liberals in the US and the Europeans are on the same wavelength in practically every conceavable issue. At least, this is a good thing.
No matter who is reigning in the OPEC countries, they still need our markets to sell their oil, so I don't understand why this Arab leader is better than that one, knowing none have been democratically elected anyway.
And look at what happened: in spite of the billions and billions $ spent in defense, a committed few terrorists have inflicted catastrophic damages and sorrow in the US. Palestinians are also hurting Israel, in spite of its nuclear capability, its airforce, its intelligence.
Are traditional weapons the answer? The confrontation with terrorists who are willing to die is something to think about: soldiers are humans who know how dangerous their job is, but they don't expect to die, they want to see their families again. It's much much more difficult for them to do something extremely dangerous, because of the total uncertainty of their fate. Human bomber terrorists already know what will happen to them; they made up their mind and because of that, are not stressed, upset, but just committed. Psychologists have noticed that depressed people often feel relieved (and seemingly better) just before they commit suicide: because they made up their mind, know what will happen and are in control.
Europe and the US disagree in the methods to prevent this. Are weapons the solution? Perhaps, when it's the last choice or when it's self-defense; but when it's about the future, it will always be the word, the most important tool for peace, and there will be peace one day, that's certain.
