"Hayman" fire is spreading rapidly

According to local news reports, the latest figures are over 60,000 acres burned, double the area reported just this morning. It's burning more than a square mile (640 acres) per hour and is too dangerous to fight from the ground. The infuriating thing is that the fire appears to have been started by some moron burning an illegal campfire. I sure hope they catch the stupid bastard.

I saw the early stages of this fire Saturday evening when returning from a park near Divide, CO. It looked like cumulus clouds billowing high into the sky. Strangely, I didn't see any glow from reflected light in the smoke like I've seen in past fires. As you can see from Pikes Peak Cam, the skies here are pretty hazy and you can clearly smell the smoke dozens of miles away.
