A voice of reason from CNN. Panic would claim more lives than the relatively minor radiation.
When the stampedes start and the panic deaths begin, you can thank the Better-Red-Than-Dead crew and your local anti-nuke environmentalists for pumping out fifty years of hyperbole and lies on radiation and nuclear energy. Incidentally, these are the same bastards who pretty much killed off the Civil Defense program with derision and more lies. "After all," they said, "if an atomic bomb goes off, everyone on Earth will die horribly anyway, so why bother to take shelter?" Anybody remember that lovely saying, "the living will envy the dead?" With the shelters and associated radiation detection equipment gone, there may be more deaths laid on their doorsteps.*
One begins to wonder if the terrorists have bought the whole Evil Radiation thing from the Left, and actually think these bombs are a lot more dangerous than they are?
Check out some useful information here. Again, not that you'd need it unless you were down the block from one of these things going off.
*On the bright side, I got a nice set of surplus radiation detection equipment from this, so it's an ill wind...
