Look. Jose is not a nice guy. Not a bright guy. And NO gangbanger without a visible means of support travels around the world and re-enters the US with over $10,000 cash.
He was up to no good, and up to no good with real bad company.
If he was the al-Qaida point man for a "dirty" bomb, they are hurting. This guy left a trail just in what he did, and he hadn't even started trying to be bad.
I can't help but think that catching a guy such as this should be routine, and not a matter for the Attorney General and President to be doing a little sack dance. If catching this guy is worth this much attention, what about the clever people?
These folks have a reason for all the fuss over a very small-time bad guy who didn't have a chance to carry out any sophisticated "mission". I don't know how much radioactive material it would take, where he would get it, but I can't imagine him passing as a medical researcher who needed 1 kg. of strontium 90, or something.
I don't even see him getting explosives, unless they were passed to him. I don't see him keeping them a secret. He seems to need attention.
If this is the al-Qaida front line, we're safe. Unless this is as notable an achievement as the Attorney General says. Then we might be in trouble.
Now, where do you draw the line in arresting people and holding them without Constitutional guarantees? Anyone the President and/or the Attorney General says? Anyone they don't like?
It's a bit scary to have a Vice President who regards Senators and Representatives who have been elected to participate in government as unpatriotic when they ask questions. Not a good sign.
