I would say "Biblical Proportions". This is a clear-cut war between the Jewish god and the Islamic god, brought on by a young, inexperienced UN's agreement to support the Holy Land of Israel as a free and clear state -- on Palestinian land (albeit colonized land). This same region has been occupied over and over for various political reasons throughout history, but was finally occupied for reasons Palestine can understand. Religious:
A supposed “one, true god” has promised this region to the Jews, in effect serving notice on Palestine’s Islamic “one, true god” (and centuries before Islam even existed, btw), and Christianity’s “one true god” (also centuries before Christianity) that the people of Palestine were to be evicted. This view does not support Islamic or Christian beliefs in the same region, whereas Jewish beliefs are supported by Islam and Christianity alike -- as being an error in judgement regarding the true machinations of the “one, true god.”
Future generations could probably write the whole thing off as a satiric comedy, possibly a dark opera with various philosophical undertones. Today, it’s simply sad.
