Hi Tom,
The suicide mentality which is nurtured and fostered makes rational dealings near impossible. Tit for tat retaliatory moves by Israeli forces will achieve nothing - except perhaps preserve political viability for the Israeli leadership.
Like dealing with the kamikazes of WWII, logic and reason have been swept from their minds.
We had a very tough go of it even with the might of our fleet and the willingness of our great nation - when confronting a fanatical, irrational foe.
I really wish Israel could be scooped up and replanted into an area where the inhabitants would be safe from terror and away from those who find it their life's ambition to damage or destroy.
Giving the Palestinians and the arabs a sense of victory would not matter - because everyone truly knows who would really be the victor of such a scenario. The arabs would soon resort to bombing and fighting amongst themselves without the easy target of Israel in their crosshairs. Israel would truly become a "promised land" - or a least a much more peaceful and prosperous one.
As for the suicide-bombers - suddenly they would be forced to get a life - instead of making their life's ambition to die as a martyr for some camel-driver and his plagiarized religious fairy-tale.
But unfortunately this is a pipe-dream,
