The media has failed all along. Every time there's a story which carries the Palestinian side, there are three Israeli or Jewish organizations threatening boycott. And the privately owned, profit-driven media caves.
Sharon tells Bush to go piss up a rope, has tanks rooting through Palestinian towns, is bulldozing Palestinian housing while continuing to build settlements, and BUSH TELLS ARAFAT TO STOP THE VIOLENCE.
It's nuts.
So, we have a generation or two raised on strictly Israeli propaganda. I'm convinced they really don't see any other side than the myth with which they were raised. Heck, I didn't, until I started reading.
Dayan was one of my heroes. Read everything I could about him for years. Golda Meier was a sweetheart. Begin was brave, staunch, and the damned Arabs could go suck eggs.
So, that's where they are. This generation won't learn, will never see it. From what I can tell, Americans are less aware of the reality behind the myth than are Israeli children, who are beginning to be taught what the reality is.
You hear about the Palestinians wanting to kill every Jew. These Palestinians who cannot keep IDF tanks out of their towns, any of their towns.
You hear about the Arabian governments wanting to drive Israel into the sea. Where are they? What are they doing, "drive-into-the-sea" wise? Ain't happening. All that's happening is the Palestinians are gradually being cleansed from their native land.
And in America that's a proud tradition.
It's goofy.
