Perhaps your optimism is fueled by your enthusiasm? Or should I say wishful thinking? There is a vast gulf between what is possible, and what is profitable.
I am very much a booster and supporter of space exploration. But realistically, living and working there in a manner that pays for itself and even generates a surplus for further investment, is beyond our current engineering, and may even be beyond our current physics.
