Sorry, covering women's faces has very little to do with religion. In Afghanistan, a married woman cannot reveal herself or be in the presence of other men without her husband being there... so it is now in Afghanistan. As for photos, there was no problem here: http://www.npr.org/programs/morning/features/2002/mar/girl/
