Democracy in Palestine?
President Bush has deeply annoyed pro-democracy arab intellectuals in his speech.
Why demand a democracy for Palestine and not bother with other Arab countries, many of them US allies where there is no such thing as democracy?
And besides, how can Bush want Palestine to be a democracy and forbid Palestinians to vote those THEY want to choose? Seems strange to prevent Arafat from being a candidate and at the same time call for a democratic Palestine.
Maybe the US administration would rather see the Hamas leader among candidates?
