Less likely today

On and before Sept 11th, pilots and crews were taught to cooperate with hijackers. In almost all cases, a hijacking meant a trip to some foreign country and a few days of discomfort. No more. There's no way that the pilots are going to freely let hijackers into the cockpit, nor are the passengers just going to sit back and go along for the ride. This has already been proven in several incidents since 911 where a disruptive passenger or would-be hijacker was subdued by his fellow passengers. In one case, a deranged passenger tried to force his way into the cockpit, only to get bashed in the head with a crash axe. I only fault the crew in not finishing the job. Had that passenger been removed in a (or preferably more than one) body bag, it would've sent a clear message what awaits anyone who tries to break into a cockpit. As it is, the message may have been received since I have not heard of any similar incidents in the past few months.
