Re: national security not a good reason to deny Visas

W’ll, yeah. It’s our open-border policy. Everyone has the freedom to come here, but persons with legitimate charges pending will either be denied access, or be permitted limited access to the nation.

This is all perfectly reasonable -- to the 20th century mindset. Things have changed, while others have not. Two things that have not changed are that Americans are impatient, and their nation is still under the yoke of a bureaucracy. The appropriate changes in government will take place, but only at the plodding pace the bureaucracy will allow.

Terrorist organizations may/may not be aware of this huge, irreparable flaw, and access to the nation now, in the wake of Sept 11 basically remains unchanged. There will be continued media reports, with interviews with utterly stunned citizens -- including politicians who really, really should know how their nation functions -- and promises to revamp departments. The hole is closing, don’t get me wrong. It’s just going to take a while to cross the Ts and dot the Is in the new policies and procedures.
