Are you assuming that one side in this conflict must be right?
A Fuel Air explosive detonated over the targeted building might be considered maximum force, but this was not.
Then just call it something PC like justifiable homicide.
This terrorist is hiding among civilians on the bet that the civilians will protect him. when civilians willingly go along with this strategy they become enemy combatants.
So now you state that every casualty in that building knew Shehadeh was there and were his supporters. From the article posted, that's a hell of a leap.
The Palestinians can justify attacking a bus full of civilians because there are 4 of 5 Israeli soldiers on the bus.
The Palestinians can claim whatever they wish in defense of their crimes. That does not amount to justification.
But Israel can't attack a building where the head of a terrorist organization is hiding?
Knowing full well that their attack would be a covert operation that will include the killing of several, possibly 100 or more, civilians, no, they cannot. This is murder.
Boy, if I follow your logic: Janet Reno should be brought up on War crime charges. After all, she killed more people in her Waco operation than the Israelis killed in this operation.
Following the ignorant strategy employed, I had the deaths predicted 24 hours before the blast. I told my father that failing to assault the compound on day one would get everybody killed. Any survivor would be considered a miracle.
Jonestown was exactly the same, and we learned nothing -- in either event.
If the current troops are unable, to do the dirty work required in combat, get them the fuck out of the way and send in a team who can. If such a team does not exist, then they might as well give up the damn fight, curl up on the floor and die, because it all just became pointless.
The missile strike was completely uncalled for and remains damned illegal,
Dan
