Re: Europe vs US

The article makes no mention of what General Morillon did in Srebrenica.
Neither does it mention anything about the French defense like the use of the aircraft carrier or the terrorist attack against french submarine technicians in Pakistan nor does it mention the terrorist attack on German tourists in Djerba.

What happens then? Well, the country of the victims calls all their nationals back and asks for extra protection for those who are essential, from the hosting country.
And in the mean time, tourism in those countries collapses; not very good for their economy.

Europe has contributed greatly in the hunt after the Al Qaeda network. Several are arrested and talk and reveal about others in the country or elsewhere. Terrorism is a police and interpol matter.

Iran has expelled 16 Al Qaeda members to Saudi Arabia (their pro US authorities).
North Korea has talks with South Korea: it is a delicate matter as it involves thousands of split families who want to get reunited.
Iraq has been defeated in 1991, since, under surveillance with no fly zones, the population is extremely poor and children underfed. Yet, it seems to constitute a major threat with Weapons of Mass Destruction aimed to...(but where exactly?)

To my knowledge, the US has never been invaded (which is untrue in the point of view of Native Americans, of course). And yet, the biggest fears come from a country that had no links with 9/11 and is extremely poor and that is led by a dictator who loves only one thing: himself.

The US complains that Europe doesn't want to get involved with wars. Maybe because it would help the US export even more weapons than it already does.
Our taxes do go to the US for buying jet aircrafts; this has gone on for years; certainly since NATO exists.

The European nations know what having been invaded and occupied mean; that certainly helps explain why we lost our colonies after WWII. The colonized could tell us what being occupied is all about and we could listen.
But because we suddenly lost all our influence, we decided to get together and old enemies became friends and now there's the EU. It is still a growing process with weaknesses but it is growing.
