Three of the four guys who killed their wives were in Afghanistan.
On two month rotations. One guy for 10 weeks.
Not very long.
Next, it's not a "hot" war.
"Sixteen Americans have been killed in combat or hostile situations since it began Oct. 7, compared with 148 battle deaths suffered by U.S. forces in the Gulf War, which lasted about six weeks."
Have these people ever heard of wars like Vietnam, Korea and WWII. I am personally aware the rotation through Nam was 1 year. That started at various times, but there was usually 50 or so weeks incountry.
Not 8 or 10, max.
And it didn't matter if you spent 30 of those weeks in the bush. You were there for a year.
A company, one company, could easily lose 16 people in one night. All the attention it got was 16 obituaries in 16 papers. It certainly wasn't "newsworthy", no headlines, no one gave a damn.
And still you didn't come home and kill your wife. Or kids, or self. Well, sometimes yourself. You can't be very proud of Nam. (I know, some are, and I don't know how they do it.)
This is the US Army? Special Forces?
I dunno.
