That would indeed be a major cut at the Republicans, except that the consistent Democratic principles are at their core, socialist and Marxist. Consistency of principles is not the same thing as morality. Adolf Hitler was consistent, too.

Both parties try to get votes by redistributing income, handing out political favors, using taxation as a weapon, and increasing the size of the state, particularly the welfare state. This is, of course, consistent with Democratic basic principles which seeks massive government power. It is not consistent with what are supposed to be Republican principles.
