Both Russia and Afghanistan are now in the same boat. Developing a capitalist infrastructure isn't easy - but Russia is exporting its primary industrial base - military equipment.

It will help when Afghanistan has a regular army, trained well and armed well. The prestige of developing ones nation in the world of nations will help keep them on the road to progress.

When they have a Burger King and a Coke machine on every other street corner in Kabul - we will know they have truly arrived! Jobs, prosperity, cars, computers, healthcare and longevity - the gifts of western civilization.
