<No war on Iraq unless the United Nations allows the use of force, top Vatican official says
Well, GWB may not get Iraq. Today. If he’s smart, he’ll use some problem with inspections as his “Gulf of Tonkin”, and whip up the war fever then. But it doesn’t look as if he’ll get Iraq today. It’s gotta look grim.
And he didn’t get ANWR, either. Son-of-a-gun. Afghanistan isn’t stable enough for a pipeline from the former Soviet republics, even if their oil fields were well enough developed to buy from. Well, there’s time to develop them, and stabilize Afghanistan. From no "nation-building", just "installing democracy", we've gone to a puppet President guarded by Americans who can see no end to their presence. Hmm. What would "nation-building" look like? What would "puppet regime" look like?
Well, except for the tax cut and gutting environmental regulations and enforcement, GWBs moneybags must be wondering what he’s done for them lately. Squat. That damned Jeffords. Until he left,
gas prices were skyrocketing,
electricity prices were going beyond anything people could believe, and
Bush was saying there was no end in sight.
And then the Ds got one of the houses, and could investigate. And found price-fixing, cutting production, all manner of chicanery. Which Bush said he couldn’t see. “No end in sight”, he said. Seemed to end, though.
Wonder what sort of a temper-tantrum he will throw if he can’t give Halliburton, et al. Iraq for Christmas? Gonna be a fierce one. He owes and the street knows it. At least the vig.
