<In Florida, McBride, a political newcomer who had the support of many in the Democratic establishment, jumped into a clear, early lead against the once-heavily favored Reno, then battled to hold that lead as precincts in Reno's South Florida stronghold began to report. With 95 percent of precincts reporting early today, McBride's margin had shrunk to two percentage points -- 45 percent to 43 percent. Broward and Orange counties suspended the counting of ballots about 5 a.m., dimming hopes for a quick resolution.
