Those folks conducted possibly the most successful hostile action of all time.
At a cost of $500,000 and 19 lives they have done untold damage to the US. We are not a frightened people, afraid of our neighbors, warned constantly about impending danger, standing in line after line to be searched.

Make fun of them at your peril. Right now the leadership is free and, frankly, they're ahead. The US is not a country which holds citizens indefinitely without charges or representation, kills innocent civilians with the thinnest of "cover", is not trusted by it's friends who don't like the idea of killing and looting people who have done no harm while letting the killers stay free. Everything OBL could have wanted has happened, most of the damaging stuff AFTER 9-11, and we've done it to ourselves.

If they are so comical and stupid, then what are we?

I remember folks laughing at little guys who ate mostly rice and wore shoes made out of old tires. Those stupid little folks killed 1,000 Americans in 1968 using just American weapons and explosives. (Thousands more with their own weapons.)

In my experience most of the folks who underestimated them did so only once. If they survived, they approached them with renewed respect.

But you go ahead. Talk about how ridiculous they are. It's fun to watch such unreasoning prejudice, such mindless bigotry. I promise, just 'cause they are different, they aren't completely stupid, and they seem to be ahead by any objective measure.
