Bizarre story - North Korea admits to abducting about a dozen Japanese citizens
about 20 years ago, apparently with the help of the Japanese Red Army Faction terrorist group. Eight of the abductees died in North Korea, including one girl who was only 13 when taken. This is from 2 BBC articles:

North Korea is a screwy country with a leadership that gives the term "rogue" a bad name. This is the same bunch who blew up a South Korean airliner back in 1987 in an attempt to scare people out of attending the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics.
