This story reminds me of Battlestar Galactica
In the first episode, the Cylons and the Humans are about to sign a peace treaty ending a centuries long war. As the Cylons approach, it's clear that they are in an aggressive posture, but the pacifists say there's nothing ominous about it. They over rule the military commanders request to to put their forces on alert. As a result, when the Cylons hit them they are totally unprepared to defend themselves. This leads not only to the destruction of the Human fleet, but also to their home worlds. I fear the pacifists are leading us into a similar trap, by being such gullible fools.
