<“The rule that we don't attack other countries. We're not the Japanese. We're not into surprising other countries.”
Der Fuehrer, Adolf Hitler (compared against him, Mussolini and Hiro Hito were mere novices:
Telling Iraq she needs to disarm immediately, per agreed-upon U.N. resolutions nearly a decade old, is a far cry from signing compliance agreements with Poland and shaking that country’s leader’s hand -- just prior to invading the nation and baking half its population. Hitler’s role as mad dictator of the Third Reich allowed the world to gaze across the threshold of humanity and see the waiting abyss of Hell on Earth.
Showa ["Enlightened Peace"] of the Chrysanthemum Throne, Emperor Hiro Hito:
Announcing the ultimatum across open, international channels is a far cry from the strike at Pearl Harbor. If it should later surprise Saddam Hussein that we actually do move on him, it will merely be a result of his own stupidity.
Benito Mussolini:
Buying support from other nations in the deterrent act of ending Iraq’s desire for WMD is a far cry from signing up with a genocidal maniac with delusions of world conquest for the sole purpose of cutting a piece of the world out for himself. Clearly the subordinate partner in the Axis, the little Hitler-wannabe followed the Nazis’ adoption of racial profiling that led to persecution of Jews, and the creation of apartheid in his little Italian empire.
But if you're just going - this is where it's tricky - if you just don't like the look of their face, if you don't like anything about them, if they thumb their nose at you and they have weapons but they haven't moved against you yet and there's no evidence they are moving against you, that is the kind of preemption that I think is very bad.
He used that word! Evidence!
Of course the evidence is there, and it’s very real -- but the conspiracy knuts of the world (you know who you are -- right, Bowser?) immediately throw it out the window.
Iraq invades Iran.
Iraq invades Kuwait.
Defeated, Iraq agrees to disarm. Left alone, Iraq does not.
Iraq agrees to allow inspectors to “hunt” for WMD and verify the country disarms. Iraq throws inspectors out, since their hunting is a violation of their military security -- though the only military the U.N. authorizes for Iraq is a civilian police force.
Iraq agrees to the U.N.’s Humanitarian Aid for Oil resolution for her people. Iraq constructs grand palaces for her leaders and continues to build up her illegal militaries.
Per U.N. resolution, Iraq is internationally banned from the appropriation of WMD. Iraq is continuing to appropriate WMD materials.
Iraq is told to stop appropriating WMD, or she will be severely punished. Iraq proceeds to take neighboring nations hostage.
Of course none of it really means anything,
