While it looks like Schroeder wins - in reality he has been handed a parliamentary defeat. In Germany the politics of shifting parliamentary alliances would be Tom Daschle's dreampolitik. The greens, with a poorer showing, and the communists unable to be represented at all because they were under 5%, do not constitute the numbers they once did.
This means in the years ahead Schroeders government will be dismantled in short order. Since he has done nothing except spout anti-us nonsense since getting elected and posing with flood victims (just like Clinton always seeking the photo-op!) the 10% unemployment will not go away and will get worse.
Naturally, we are not going to make it easy on Schroeder either after what he has done - speeding up his political mudslide into the abyss.
;-)
Although not ecstatic - I am very satisfied with the outcome.
