From U.S. News.
About all that tortured hand-wringing a few weeks back over whether President Bush should go to the United Nations for support in targeting Iraq, we learn that the prez had already made his mind up to do it. Way back on August 9, in a war council meeting at Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch. It was Secretary of State Colin Powell's idea and Bush liked it. 'Nuff said.
What this seems to mean is that when everyone was screaming for Bush to go through the U.N., and it looked like he was balking, that he had already decided to go that route, and was waiting for the perfect time to do it for maximum impact. There are a number of things like this that make me think that "Bush the Big Dummy" is playing his opposition like a Stradivarius violin.
Bush decides to go to the U.N. Weeks ago.
