Hmmm.

So instead of heaping praise on something Bush did (send in those compassionate and intelligent special forces), you instead focus on the negative.

Looking for weapons caches or any other operation is tense. Soldiers are not policemen - they don't have the temperament or the training. Every door in Afghanistan possibly could</> be hiding bin Laden or some of his supporters. So you don't drop your guard or you end up like Spann did.

This is a non-story. None of the women or the man were killed or even injured. The only story here is that there was clearly a miscommunication between the Special Forces and the 82nd. Someone should've acted as liasion between the two - so that those places that had already been checked were not rechecked.

But mistakes will happen. This is just a piece to make the military look bad. And you use it to try and make Bush look bad.

Newsflash: Bush is not LBJ.

He is not on the horn 24 hours miocromanaging the efforts in Afghanistan. He is no more directly responsible for this than he is for the those returning soldiers who killed their wife. Sure the buck stops with him - but only after the transactions been made.

Believe me - this war has been conducted better and in a more civil manner than any in history. The US military is getting better all the time - it doesn't deserve this sort of flak. I have horror stories I can tell you of the US forces that advanced into Germany, if you want to hear about real civilian abuse.
