so reminiscent of Hitler

From what I've read, anyway. The growing alienation from his own people, the tendency to beleive himself some sort of divine figure, the disconnection from reality, the ability to be vicious on the one hand and tender on the other.

There just seem to be so many parallels. Maybe it's just a "dictator thing," an occupational hazard for tyrants. It seems he might not rant and scream as much as Hitler did, and isn't in the same class as an orator, despite his "warm and fuzzy" war story. His speeches appear to be mind-numbingly inane.

I can imagine that his ousting/demise may well release a torrent of writing, but that we'll have to wait some time before anything like an objective assessment will begin to emerge.

And what has he done to Iraqi society? But if Germany, and later the ex-Soviet bloc can re-join the rational world, Iraq probably can too.
