Do you realize how small Afghanistan is? What they have for weaponry?

Afghanistan is about five times the size of Pennsylvania, and a lot of it is vertical. The geography has been the downfall of many an army through history, and it is actually a miracle we got as many of the enemy as we did. If we had finished the dirty work on the eastern border ourselves instead of farming it out to less-than-reliable and easy-to-bribe Afghan troops, a lot fewer Taliban would have booked to Pakistan.

Assuming "they" are the U.S. forces, we have terribly advanced and powerful weaponry. And we can't use it very much because we might kill some civilians inexcusably. So we go in on foot and hope for the best.
