<Certainly drones have their uses in war, but remote controlled killing machines commanded by armchair pilot warriors take the face off the enemy don't they ? ("don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes").
How antiseptic.
I get a warm fuzzy feeling all over.
Microwave beam weapons.
Remote controlled killer drones targeting individuals.
Biological weapons.
Chemical weapons.
NUCLEAR weapons.
Torture of suspected prisoners.
War.
Death.
Never ending revenge and hatred.
Throw out all the rules.
I can't speak for military men, since I've never been. Still, if it was me, I'd sure rather be in an armchair twiddling a trackball than in a muddy trench listening to bullets whizzing over my head. And hey, it's not like slogging around in person on a dark battlefield means you're not going to shoot or mortar the wrong guys.
In "Starship Troopers," it was stated that no matter how advanced the technology, there would always be a need for the foot soldier to go down the hole and do the dirty work. Maybe he was right, but then his spaceship pilots still had slipsticks, and I don't think we've even scratched the surface about what could be done with remote systems. The day may come when someone like Saddam will be taken out by a hunter-seeker floating in his window.
As for your little list, I'm not sure what you're driving at. Except for the first two, the other side is the one doing, or trying to do, all these things.
Maybe I'll take up fishing in some remote cabin in the woods.
With your luck it would be right next to a white supremacist UFO believers' militia compound. Near the firing range.
