Gore withdrew his concession on election night, and deployed an organized legal attack on the voting process, one that had been carefully planned before the election for just such an occasion. Specific Florida election laws pertaining to deadlines and machine recounts were ignored, just as in New Jersey. Only the fact that the Republicans managed to meet him head on and gave as good as they got kept him from stealing the election.

Yes, it was effective for the Democrats. They learned that they can throw an entire election into chaos, after results have been legally tabulated, and had they been luckier, they would have pulled it off. You don't think they'll try it again?
