The bigger picture

The struggle is not solely about Saddam, OBL or al-Quaida. It is about radical Islamism.

Iraq is a potential danger because a maniac like Saddam (closet infidel that he is) would not hesitate to ally himself with the Islamists.

In the war against regious fundamentalism that we will be fighting for the next 100 years, we need a bridgehead in the heart of the Arab world. A secular democratic state with the potential to thrive economically gives us the best chance to export secularism.

As the example of Western Europe overcame Communist zealots, so will a free Iraq overcome religious zealots in the rest of the Arab world.

Can we and will we pull it off? I guess we will see.
