<Illinois death penalty on trial: Its backfiring

I witnessed this. The news media here really went out of their way to talk with victim's family members about how these clemency hearings are making them re-live their loved-one's murder all over again.

My bet is that when its all over, the death penalty in Illinios will have as much support as it does in Texas. There's not much support for death row inmates when the public is reminded exactly why those individual inmates are on death row. The clemency hearings didn't put a human face on the inmates as was expected...Instead the clemency hearings have put a human face on the victims. And the inmates aren't gaining much sympathy.
