And it's on a Democrat! Whaddaya know!
A judge releases some letters that don't reflect well on Governor Davis. Now while there is nothing specifically linking this timing to the Republicans--the judge is a Carter appointee, and the letters were released under pressure from the liberal newspaper the Sacramento Bee--it sure is suspiciously convenient.
What I find highly amusing is Davis' indignation that anyone would pay attention to the accusations of a criminal. Davis made enormous amounts of political hay over Republican opponent Bill Simon's legal troubles when Simon was being sued by a drug dealer in a case that was later thrown out on appeal.
In a related story, the Wall Street Journal has published an editorial on the California energy crisis, which makes some obvious economic conclusions that shouldn't require a Nobel Prize winner to point out.
Davis' response is described in this editorial.
