Green energy draws power from nature. It's going to change things when you do this. You can't pull energy out of any system without changing it. Build a dam, the river doesn't flow the same way. Build fields of solar panels, the sun doesn't heat the ground like it did. Windmills draw energy from air movement and the air doesn't move quite like it did before.
But most of these are small alterations that can be easily lived with, and the changes are normally stable afterwards.
The Deep Environmentalists aren't about clean energy. They're about hating human beings. They're trying to destroy hydroelectric dams, and prevent wind farms and solar farms from being built. I remember the horror some of them felt back when "cold fusion" was being considered a possibility.
The guys who wrote that paper are not Deep Environmentalists, but Lord knows the D.E.'s will latch onto this.
