I'm taking into account that we're just days away from a midterm election, one the Bush Regime needs its party to win in order to press its agenda for the next two years.
What counts is how the story turns out. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Regime's enthusiasm for busting those little "corporate schemers" evaporate after election day. Will Fastow really spend the rest of his life behind bars and pay back even a fraction of what he stole? Lay? Ebbers? It remains to be seen. I'm not holding my breath.
Gee, if a president is somehow responsible for everything that happens in the country (as some people seem to believe), perhaps we should ask who was president in 1997 when all of this started?
Specious--the crimes hadn't been discovered in 1997, so we'll never know how the Clinton Administration would have handled it. The assertion that Clinton somehow promoted corporate fraud through his sexual antics is ludicrous beyond belief....unless...hmmm...do Rightists perhaps get confused about sex and money? That would explain a lot, I'd say.
Barf! Barf!
