The Democrats have to avoid any one-on-one comparisons their New Jersey and Minnestota "candidates of the future" and their Republican opponents. For obvious reasons. Look for this to get real amusing.

My favorite Mondale quote so far, heard on Rush:

Here's the important quote, made on stage at the 1984 Democratic National Convention in San Francisco to Congressman Dan "Rosty" Rostenkowski. In his speech, Mondale had famously said, "Mr. Reagan will raise taxes, and so will I. He won't tell you. I just did."

Rostenkowski whispered to Mondale after he stepped off the podium, "You've got a lot of balls, pal," and Mondale whispered back, as he gazed out at a sea of cheering Democrats, "Look at 'em. We're going to tax their ass off." This is Walter Mondale, as reported in a well-respected book, by a heavy-hitting Democrat congressman.
