About 120 Australian police and intelligence officers are working in Bali with detectives from Indonesia, the United States, Britain, Japan and other countries. About half of those killed were Australian.

JAKARTA, Indonesia -- AP
Indonesian Islamic militants who trained in Libya and fought in Afghanistan might have carried out last month's deadly Bali bombing, police said Friday, but acknowledged that three weeks after the attack, they still don't have much to go on.

Despite official insistence the investigation is gaining steam, a breakthrough remains elusive. There have been no arrests, no claims of responsibility and no confirmed motive.

Police said they are making progress in their search for three suspects believed to have rented a vehicle used in the Oct. 12 nightclub bombings that killed nearly 200 people, mostly foreign tourists.

Authorities on Friday allowed the public to enter the bomb site for the first time since the blasts. People laid wreaths and milled about the wreckage.
