Saudi Daily Slams 'Nazi-Like' U.S. Policies, Describes Bush as 'Cowboy'

Saudi Arabia has indicated it will not allow the United States to use its military facilities in an eventual strike against Iraq, but Washington Monday played down remarks to this effect by the Saudi foreign minister. Speaking to CNN on Sunday, Prince Saud Al Faisal appeared to say that Riyadh would not allow Washington to use its territory or airspace to attack Iraq, even with a UN endorsement of military action.

A Saudi daily Tuesday denounced what it called “the Nazism of the new American era,” accusing Washington of “terrorizing” the world under the guise of fighting terror and describing U.S. President George W. Bush as a “cowboy.”

“The United States is wielding the stick of war on terror to terrorize nations, threatening to unleash its military, including nuclear power under the banner of defending its security,” wrote Okaz in an editorial titled “the Nazism of the new American era.”

“The United States claims to champion human rights while flouting those same rights by its actions in Afghanistan, its treatment of (Afghan war) prisoners at the Guantanamo base and the enactment of laws that constrain the freedom of its citizens, chiefly those of Arab and Islamic extraction,” the paper said.

Where the United States is concerned, Israel is always right, Okaz said.

Comes across as apparent that this “Saudi daily” (funny that the name of the rag wasn’t given) has no clue what a genuine Nazi was, or what a genuine cowboy is. Mixing the two comes across as a very bad B-western (i.e., "Billy the Kid vs. Dracula," or maybe even Troma's "Surf Nazis Must Die" -- 'cause surfers are at least as bad as cowboys).
