Daschle is flailing desperately. He came within 500 votes of having a Republican as his fellow Senator from South Dakota, and currently spends half his days on his knees thanking God he was not up for election this year.
No one will argue that the job in Afghanistan is not done. But...
Afghanistan no longer contains entire towns dedicated to training terrorists. Afghanistan is no longer ruled by the Taliban, partners to Al Quaeda. Afghanistan is no longer a state dedicated to the creation and dispersion of terrorism.
And there are one HELL of a lot fewer Taliban and Al Quaeda on this side of the dirt than there was two years ago. And judging by the recent news, fewer every day.
None of this would be true if we had not gone into Afghanistan.
The Left is bitching about this "lack of progress," (while simultaneously complaining that we are shooting terrorists down) to cover up the fact that they have NO better ideas to deal with this, or for that matter, any ideas at all.
Now, we move on to Iraq, after having tried eight years of the "Democratic Kinder Gentler Approach" to dealing with totalitarian tyrants (worked well in North Korea, too.)
They also sent anthrax to the publishers of supermarket tabloids. How does that fit into your Evil Conspiracy?
