Re: Canada falling behind

Read the first line on this website.

"Although there are currently no public access methanol or ethanol (E-85) refueling stations in Ontario, there is a wide network of public access natural gas refueling stations."

What a crock. From Toronto Canada, I would have to load my truck up with 80-gallon drums and drive all the way to Detroit to fill them up with ethanol (E85). Who knows if I'd be allowed across the border, or even allowed to transport fuel in such a manner.

The Canadian Government intends to instead force oil companies to mix 5% - 10% ethanol with gasoline to help meet the requirements of the Kyoto Accord (article). I still think we need a greater shift to renewable fuels, such as E85 refuelling stations and incentives for flexible fuel vehicles. We also need more research to develop high-cellulose seaweed varieties to cultivate as energy crop floatillas on the open ocean.
