The EU seems to largely share Canada's concerns.
When the cold war dwindled, it seemed logical to reduce miltary expenditures.
Belgium has, for instance, only a professional army left and our bases in Germany are either being reduced or given back to Germany.
I just don't see fighting terrorism with traditional armies the right way to fight back. After all, those terrorists use suicide, surprise. Armies are very much visible.
Another way to fight back is to understand what drives them. THey are humans ready to go to such extremes. Humans grow up, earn a living, have children, responsabilities; same in the muslim countries.
