While the Democrats were running the show, they were all in favor of absolute power of the central government, but now that Republicans may be pushing some iffy propositions, the Democrats may be in favor of more power devolving to the states and away from Washington.

I have always thought that many issues, like abortion and countless others, never were the business of the Federal government in the first place, and would like to see a lot of this going back to the state level, or even lower.

How powerful you want the government to be seems to be largely dependent on whether your guys are in charge or not. I personally don't like the idea of vast power in the hands of either party.
