I don't know if any research has been done on civilian airliners surviving missile hits. The closest military analog would be multiengine cargo planes or bombers. If a single engine was destroyed, and the wing and control surfaces were reasonably undamaged (a big if), and no fire resulted, an airliner could easily survive. As we can see, a considerable amount of luck would be involved.
Anyone else have more data on this?
