Human Shields

It isn’t a matter of groundswell support or sympathy for Saddam Hussein. Rather, the new anti-war movement zeroes in on the fear that any campaign against Iraq – especially the expected urban warfare on the streets of Baghdad – would imperil the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians.

Bullshit. It's hatred for America, hatred for Bush, and pretty much hatred of the West in general.

I haven't noticed the Left overflowing with sympathy over the past decades for the millions of civilians dying under communist regimes. And never mind the hundred thousand or so Iraqis and Kurds that Saddam has deliberately murdered, sometimes with poison gas, a fact that seems to elude those who express concern for the Iraqi people.

Far, far better they live their lives as terrified slaves, than be possibly hurt or killed in a war that may liberate them. If Abraham Lincoln had thought this way, over 300,000 lives would have been saved, and a lot of slaves wouldn't have been killed in a war. Of course, they would have remained slaves.
