I don't know what to make of stuff like this.
What sources are they using here? Obviously, the press is not illegally revealing anything actually classified, but this could be useful to enemies who are not sophisticated enough to access hard data through more complex espionage channels.
Censorship makes me nervous, but what is the motivation for printing stuff like this? Because they can? To make some kind of point about how informed they are? Certainly not to actually aid an enemy. But geez, during WWII this kind of stuff would never have seen print.
Come to that, I've been a little thunderstruck by the detailed information that the Pentagon itself either reveals outright or leaks. Does this have a purpose? Is some of it false? Heck, are some of the numbers in this article fake?
An awful lot of information on our battle plans and capabilities is floating around loose out there.
Used to be, "Loose Lips Sink Ships."
