There seems to be a huge range of estimates for the financial costs of a war on Iraq - CNN gives $9-13 billion, the <a href =
http://www.senate.gov/~budget/democratic/press/2002/fact%20sheet_Cost%20of%20Iraq%20War10.02.02.pdf> US Senate has discussed $21-272 billion, and, though I can't locate a free link, I've seen references to "The Economist" talking about up to $1.6 TRILLION.
Hmmm… maybe, if Saddam has as little regard for his people as is claimed, he's willing to sacrifice a few (or a few hundred thousand) in order to break the US budget.
And now with North Korea making an "unacceptable" decision to reactivate a nuclear power plant, can war there be far off? With a further drain on the US economy? N. Korea would have a lot fewer mouths to feed after a war…
Of course, as goes the US economy, so go the economies of most Western countries.
Though I suppose the bottom lines of a few arms companies would look good. Where do I buy their stocks?
