5% that own 90% of all the money
Please do come up with actual statistics. I've seen this wheeze hundreds of times since I was in college, and never a single number to back it up. On the face of it, considering home ownership, bank accounts, IRAs, and small businesses, it seems ludicrous that 5 percent of the American population would "control" 90 percent of the wealth, unless the term "control" is stressed beyond reason (does the fact that the bank holds my mortgage mean they "control" the equity in my home instead of me?)
