Don’t know why “time is running out”, unless the US cannot maintain that forward deployment. Then, clearly no matter what happens, GWB will have to attack.

It’s also clear the US threats have been the motivating factor behind the Iraqi compliance with the UN, and everyone except Bush and Blair think the inspectors are seeing what they have to see. Makes sense that there will NOT be anything definitive until close to the end of the process, when all the loose ends can come together.

Wonder what sort of box he’d be in if Saddam went into exile, and the inspectors continued to enjoy unfettered access. Probably he’d say the successors are as bad, it’s a terribly dangerous place, and the US needs troops on the ground to keep the oil safe and rebuild the country after bombing it to smithereens.

At least the ROW is sane about this, except for English-speaking places.
