Read the history.

The forceful liberation of Kuwait (which Bush the First described as "not about oil! This is about restoring democracy to Kuwait" - can you believe it - "restoring democracy to Kuwait") was a genuine coalition, not a rogue operation.

The "charter" was to free Kuwait. Period. That did not extend into overthrowing the Iraqi government, occupying Iraq, looting the country. Free Kuwait. And they did.

Kuwait wasn't US property to be kept. However, the Kuwaiti oil supply was guaranteed the West, not an entirely bad thing.

And, repeating, Kuwait wasn't the USs to keep. What do you think the world is, a playground? Where if a bully grabs a ball it's his, with no accountability?

Bush does.

Democracy has been restored to Kuwait about as well as it has Afghanistan. The US is a great exporter of democracy. At least the Kuwaitis don't need American Special Forces bodyguards for their leadership.
